About Butak

Butak is a native Git GUI built with Swift for macOS. It was created out of frustration with bloated, Electron-based Git clients that trade performance for cross-platform convenience.

Philosophy

Git is powerful, but its CLI is not always intuitive. Butak gives you a clean visual interface for the operations you use every day — branching, committing, diffing, and merging — without hiding Git’s power behind abstractions.

Built for macOS

Butak is not a cross-platform app shoehorned into macOS. It is built from the ground up with Swift and AppKit, following Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines. It feels like it belongs on your Mac.
